Erin Trimble For Deschutes Public Library District, Zone 1

I’m Erin Trimble, running for the Deschutes Public Library Board Zone 1 position. As a Redmond resident of 19 years and a parent of children in the Dual Language Program, I’ve seen how libraries transform lives. They are gateways to opportunity, connection, and growth. My dream of becoming a sign language interpreter began at my local library, and today, as a nationally certified ASL interpreter, I continue to see their power to foster learning and inclusivity. Since joining the Library Board last year, I’ve worked to ensure our libraries remain vibrant, accessible, and responsive to our community’s needs. I’m proud to have supported the new Redmond library, completed on time and under budget, and I’m committed to maintaining this excellence as we finish the 2020 bond projects. This May 2025, I ask for your support to build a library system that inspires, empowers, and connects us all.

Erin’s ABC’s

  • Accessibility is at the heart of a thriving library system. I am committed to ensuring that our libraries are welcoming and inclusive spaces for everyone, regardless of age, ability, or background. From physical accessibility to diverse resources and programs, I will advocate for equitable access to information and services. My experience as an ASL interpreter has deepened my understanding of the importance of accessibility, and I will work to ensure our libraries meet the needs of all community members, fostering an environment where everyone can learn, grow, and connect.

  • Completing bond projects on time and within budget is a top priority. The successful opening of the new Redmond library, finished on time and under budget, demonstrates our commitment to fiscal responsibility and community trust. As we wrap up the remaining 2020 bond projects, I will ensure transparency, accountability, and efficiency. These projects are vital to expanding and improving our library facilities, and I am dedicated to delivering results that enhance our community’s access to resources, programs, and spaces that inspire lifelong learning and connection.

  • Libraries are more than buildings—they are hubs of connection. I will work to strengthen partnerships with local organizations, schools, and support community groups to create programs and services that reflect the needs and desires of our residents. By fostering collaboration, we can build a library system that not only serves but also unites our community. From lifelong learning opportunities to neutral spaces where everyone feels welcome, I am dedicated to ensuring our libraries remain vibrant centers of connection, creativity, and growth for all.

  • Our library staff and services are the backbone of the system. I am committed to supporting our dedicated staff by ensuring they have the resources and training needed to provide exceptional service to our community. From expanding educational programs to offering services that meet the evolving needs of our residents, I will advocate for investments in staff and services that uphold the excellence of our libraries. Together, we can create a library system that empowers, inspires, and serves every member of our community.
